If you haven’t figured something out, I LOVE to eat. The weekends is when I love to indulge..but I balance out my sweets with clean eating during the week and 5x week at the gym. anyways…

Sweet Jane’s in Astoria is an AMAZING addition to the hood. There was no other ice cream spot just plenty of froyo (gag) and some gelato. Sweet Jane’s is sooo good and only a 25 min walk from the apt! I went to the grand opening and was greeted by very friendly workers who gave us lots of free samples

The dairy free chocolate raspberry fudgie (pictured in the bowl) was amazing. I had the s’mores ice cream and Bastion had the birthday cake, both were great. We also sampled some vegan ice creams that were great.

I love that SJ ice cream is made on premises and Jane is great at catering to dairy free folks which is huge. It’s right down the street from Bohemian Beer Garden so go get some ice cream after your brews! I may very well be there.

Thanks to We Heart friend Tamara Reynolds, we caught wind of this very interesting article by the NY Times, Brooklyn to Queens, but Not by Subway – Imagining a Streetcar Line Along the Waterfront. It’s basically an argument for putting a street car route along the waterfront from Red Hook—IKEA, where there is a ferry—through DUMBO, Williamsburg, Greenpoint, LIC—all of which have access to the East River Ferry—up to Astoria Park. This route would be a “desire line,” which is essentially a route determined by the people who live and visit a place rather than through abstract analysis. It’s essentially a user-created path. With all the interest in the waterfront in Queens and BK, it’s understandable that people want better and more convenient access to these areas.

There used to be a record store on Ditmars Blvd. that DJ Camilo used to frequent and a hard core band performed in. Yeah… Read the story of Underground Sound here.

eyeheartnewyork:

The demolition of the 5Pointz graffiti mecca has reportedly begun: the building was in the process of being white-washed. I was lucky to take a tour a few months ago and was hoping to see it again in the winter, but the deconstruction apparently couldn’t wait.

Here are the photos I’ve taken of 5Pointz over the years. RIP.
